13TH STREET BATHROOM REMODEL
South Loop, Chicago
When a 13th Street Condominium in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood was damaged by a flood, the owners decided to use the opportunity to do a complete Master bath remodel in addition to repairing the flood damage. Centaur Interiors was commissioned to design a simple and modern Master Bathroom for the owners.
The owners were looking to significantly open up the space; the team was able to design a vaulted ceiling and add a pocket door and several niches, which required raising sprinkler heads and relocated an exposed spiral duct. The shower was given some character with a new Grohe rain head that was installed into a floating soffit with LED lighting. The shower valves and Toto hand shower were configured in large recessed niches which coincide with the tile pattern. The existing tub was improved upon withe new Kohler fixtures. A countertop of Raven Ceasar stone was installed over the existing vanity with new undermount sinks and Toto chrome polished faucets. Dual niches were created in mirror image of each other just above the vanity for additional storage. Completing the vanity space is a large mirror enclosed in a custom frame that was created specifically to suite the owner’s taste. Altering sizes of through-body porcelain tiles in a light smoke color were placed throughout the bath, shower, and floor to create a consistently clean look. The aesthetics of the space now offer serenity and elegance for the owner, and the simplistic modern design is sure to look just as beautiful ten years from now as it does today.
