SCOPE OF WORK:
8-12 EAST WALTON
Centaur and architectural firm Cannon Design were commissioned to construct a new two-story retail development in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. The first phase of the project consisted of the demolition of the existing multi-storied attached retail structures in a manner that demanded a high level of detail and coordination so the work would not affect the neighboring buildings. A rigorous three month construction schedule was executed requiring multiple teams to work simultaneously to meet the project’s schedule. The building is composed of a 7,000 square foot space, occupied by BHLDN’s second national location, and a smaller 3,000 square foot boutique space. A beautifully simplistic Indiana buff true-limestone façade, which complements the surrounding buildings perfectly, were blended with large windows throughout the front facade to allow for plenty of natural light. The visionary project was completed within schedule and budget, exceeding another client’s expectations in Chicago’s ever-vibrant Gold Coast neighborhood.
