SCOPE OF WORK:
Robert’s Pizza
Robert’s Pizza and Dough Co. owner, Robert Garvey was in search of a new location for his popular streeterville pizza spot. After acquiring a place just blocks away from the original location, Centaur was hired to manage and build out the new 4,390 sq ft restaurant.
Inspired by the winding, cross country road trip owners Robert and wife Dana once took in their convertible mustang, Robert’s Pizza is equal parts retro grit and welcome nostalgia. The design celebrates their journey by incorporating found objects and candid polaroids of their trip reprinted on metal screens to weave in their story. A palette of slate blue, cognac leather, and rustic wood is offset with contemporary orange accents, creating an atmosphere that is approachable, inclusive and lived in. Old brick, vintage patina and rusted corten are also found throughout the space as a nod to weathered materials one would see alongside the road. The kitchen design was equipped with a massive 30’ x 24″ hood that was quite a challenge to figure out. Collaborating with the Studio K design team, the hood was redesigned and made in 2 pieces for easier installation.
It was a pleasure building a restaurant where people come together and enjoy the journey of eating pizza.
