SCOPE OF WORK:
STARBUCKS
Starbucks Coffee Company envisioned a new Flagship store, one of only six Starbucks Flagships around the world, at Rush & Oak Streets in Chicago’s Gold Coast. This vision turned reality through an intense, collaborative effort in which Centaur Construction teamed with local and foreign designers to create an unmatched Starbucks experience. The project commenced with the deconstruction on the existing multistory structure which included design/build engineering and new supporting for adjacent structures which were attached to it. Deconstruction was immediately followed by an integral colored cantilevered structural floor slab system, strategically protected as it served as a finished product upon which the entire building core and shell was completed. The building, completed in four months, is comprised of 5,000sf on two levels and included cantilevered balconies, reclaimed building materials, complex mechanical systems, and Green Building standards. The entire glass façade, complete with curved glass exterior railings, invites the connection between patrons and pedestrians of this vibrant neighborhood. The Starbucks Flagship marks another showpiece in Centaur’s extensive Gold Coast retail portfolio.
