SCOPE OF WORK:
THE MILL
Centaur Construction was selected as the General Contractor and Construction Manager for The Mill Chicago. The Mill is world renowned UK based visual effects company with studios located in London, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. As The Mill expands their Chicago offices, Centaur, in close collaboration with Bruce Bolander Architects and Vinci Hamp Architects began work in the newly christened 1k / Google building (1000 Fulton Market). Occupying approximately 20,000 SF, the office boasts a multitude of technology-rich suites and collaboration rooms as well as a host of breakout and production areas. At the heart of this build-out lies a State-of- the-Art server room with independent and robust temperature control, fire protection, power back up and air filtration systems to support and protect the rows of sensitive computer racks and miles upon miles of cabling. Extensive lighting control and Low Voltage systems helped to complement the elegant yet simple decor of the space. Polished concrete, Architectural Steel and Raw Wood served as the backdrop to the colorful and comfortable interior design elements and furnishings. An exciting project no doubt but challenged by an aggressive schedule, strict building guidelines, a project team that was spread over multiple cities on two continents and a pre-established hard budget, all the while working with a developing scope of work. Centaur is proud to have been a member of the team.
