SCOPE OF WORK:
LINCOLN PARK RESIDENCE
Centaur Construction was the General Contractor, in close collaboration with Chicago’s Vinci Hamp Architects for a 7400sf complete vintage home remodel. Originally hired for a previous budget review during the demolition phase, quickly turned into becoming responsible for full coordination of this project. The style of this home is a combination of contemporary and primarily classic design. Creating a space where keeping the historical feel of the home, and integrating elegant materials with lavish design was the ultimate aspiration. The client spent three weeks traveling Italy with the architect and the stone contractor in search of the perfect marble for their bathrooms. A technique called “book match” was implemented in the marble walls in the Master Bathroom. Original millwork in the Living Room & Library was restored and refinished. All brass finishes in the home were a custom brass that was reproduced by four different contractors. Existing library bay window, limestone walls and gallery plaster ceiling were all replicated exactly to keep the original character of the home. Natural stone throughout the bathrooms, wood floors with a mix of paint, fabric wall coverings, terrazzo floors in Kitchen and Library, and old world light fixtures are just some of the components in transforming this residence into a genuine showpiece.
Due to this building being over 90 years old, there were plenty of obstacles to overcome. From insufficient water pressure, unleveled walls and ceilings, to a small service elevator which forced us to crane deliver materials through the floor window, such as their 3000lb master bath tub. As a whole this project was very unique and successful in all facets. Pictures cannot justify how exquisite and refined every detail of this home encompasses.
