SCOPE OF WORK:
SOUTH BARRINGTON RESIDENCE
A daunting endeavor, this single family private residence in South Barrington was renovated for existing clients who had a condo in the Gold Coast of Chicago remodeled prior to purchasing this home. Having previously worked with these clients, the team knew how to collaborate and incorporate distinctive details that compliment the homeowner’s eclectic style by utilizing various materials and rare antiquities throughout.
An extraordinary Mahogany wine cellar is the main attraction on the first floor and sits adjacent to the Kitchen and is orientated on a 45° angle for a complete lower level viewing. Complete with a leaded glass door and window, a prized French wine collection of approximately 900 bottles sits in the thermostatically controlled area. The Dining Room is set off by the custom crafted Walnut wall panels and wainscoting, with a chandelier centered in the tray ceiling. The centerpiece of the Great Room is the elaborate chandelier imported from France; hung from the tray ceiling twenty feet above the refinished wood floors.
The Kitchen is lined with intricate millwork cabinetry, matched in beauty by two islands and stone countertops with an ornate edge detail and bronze glass backsplash. The integrated sink basins provide even more eye catching detail with the contrast to the stone color and texturing. The centerpiece of the design in the Powder Room is a cistern sink basin carved directly from a mountain in Indonesia, and is truly a one of a kind piece. Distressed Walnut panels harmonize with the back lit panel incorporating recessed lighting and exhaust. This unique home combines contemporary style with eccentric, personifying the owner’s perfectly.
